Full Circles and embracing my legacy is where I find myself these days. Growing up surrounded by family businesses, owning my own was a natural conclusion. A story, recently told to me by a good friend and diner, was, as a young man doing repairs during the height of a cold winter was offered a moment of respite in a warm store where he met a young child. “Do you think you will own a business when you grow up?” “Probably” was my response. After working within the family businesses, I opened Cathy’s Country Kitchen (Rowley Ma) in 1995 and have continued into this new location in the historical Fowles building. I have staff who during their teen years were introduced to the restaurant and have made that beginning into their career. The artwork that graces the walls shows a lineage of my family’s participation in the Newburyport area with various enterprises. Some have closed and others are still operating. Meet my Family…. Riverside Dairy, Webster’s Ice Cream Stand, 3R Marina, Surfland Bait and Tackle, Riverfront Marine Sports and Riverfront Marina on the Parker River. And then we have me, Cathy’s Country Kitchen, Cathy’s Pantry, and CR Moulton’s.
Our Menus and entertainment reflect the diversity of our community, as does our bar. Supporting local breweries, distillers, musicians and farmers has given us the opportunity to showcase small local business. As an American Restaurant we can explore flavors from different cultures, allowing our chefs the opportunity to create scratch meals that shine.
